Registration

The Application Form for the Nare Diem is now available for you to get a jumpstart on the Registration. Completed registration forms must be returned to Nathan McBride at the following address:

The Registration for the Nare Diem will open on April 1, 2010 at 12PM, EST. We will not accept any completed registration forms prior to that time.

Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis. Each registrant will be required to complete the application in full.

The application includes but is not limited to:

Medical Clearance Form – This will need to be signed by a practicing physician in your home state that either demonstrates that you have had a physical since 1/1/09 or that you are fit enough to participate.

A Swimming Resume – This will be a brief overview of your swimming career since 1/1/09. If you intend to swim in a 4-Person team, you will need to have completed a 2 hour or 10k swim in a pool. If you intend to swim in a 2-Person team, you will need to have completed a 6 hour or 10 mile swim in either a pool or open water. If you intend to swim as a soloist, you will need to have completed a 10 hour or 20 mile swim in either a pool or open water. Any of the above will need to be ratified by an independent individual who can attest to your completion. You will also be required to provide the length of time it took if you elect to list one of the distances above as your entry criteria.

A Character Reference – This can be a note from a coach, fellow swimmer or fellow athlete who can attest to your swimming ability.

A Liability Release – All participants will be required to fill out this standardized form for this event.

Proof of 2010 USMS/USA/FINA Membership – We are working on making this a recognized USA/USMS/FINA event and do not anticipate any difficulties in doing so.

2) Electronically – We have established a paypal link below which will allow you to use your credit card – note that you do not need a paypal account to use this secure service.

Once we have received the packet, the Nare Diem committee will review each to ensure completion. Swimmers will be considered in the order that they register so long as they have completed packets returned to us within the allotted time. The allotted time has not yet been decided but will most likely be anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks.

We will be offering two 6-hour pool training swims to qualified registrants. These will be held in late Spring and early Summer. Swimmers will be encouraged to attend at least one.

Registrants who sign up after the event has been filled will be listed as standby in the order in which they were received and will also be required to complete the packet, minus the cost of registration.

Please note that there will be no refunds under any circumstances except one. If a swimmer registers and later needs to rescind, they may ONLY receive a refund if they are able to find a swimmer to replace them or if a swimmer is able to swim from the wait list. Again, there will be no other exceptions.

We have to have a minimum of 20 swimmers to break even with respect to pool fees and other costs. In the event that we do not have the minimum turnout prior to 7/1/10, we will be canceling the event and all entrants will be fully reimbursed.
